I recently had the opportunity to visit the University for Peace in Costa Rica in conjunction with my studies at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA, where I have been working on my Masters of Science in Conflict Management degree for the past 16 months. The KSU-MSCM Cohort VI class attended classes and lectures at UPeace for a week. I then struck out on my own for an additional five days to explore Costa Rica.
While I was on my trip, I kept a journal and took many pictures. This is the record of my trip.
We arrived at the airport in San Jose, Costa Rica, on October 20, 2006.
(I happen to love the patterns in airport architecture.)
From October 20-27, 2006, we stayed at the Hotel Posada Canal Grande.
The hotel is very open, like the hotels in Hawaii or in Southern California. It was still the rainy season, so the colors were vibrant and there were flowers blooming everywhere. The weather, other than being pretty wet, was wonderful. The temperature stayed in the 70s most of the time we were there. Because of its location on the planet, Costa Rica has 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness, pretty much every day of the year. The sun rises around 5:00 a.m. and sets around 5:00 p.m. The morning light was beautiful; the birds sing; the roosters crow; and, in the rain forest, the monkeys howl.
These are two early morning views from the hotel.
